Saturday 21st May
On Saturday Martin and Les had three students for a Woodturning Experience Day. During this course, the students learned some basic skills to turn a bud. A tasty lunch and a morning coffee in the onsite coffee shop was enjoyedas part of the course to make the day more enjoyable.









Tuesday 24th May
On Tuesday, Les needed his router lathe to turn some twists for a customer. This is a very handy machine as shown here in this Instagram post.
It may be a little noisy, but it gets the job done.
When using a jam chuck, always make sure it’s a softer wood than the project.
Les’ Tip of the Week as

Back in June 2020, Martin founded an online club called Woodturning360. It has a membership of around 170 from all over the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada.
Meeting on Zoom on the first Monday of each month, the club enjoys a professional demonstration from a highly respected professional turner and on the third Monday of the month, the club meets again for a general discussion meeting.

Thu-Fri 26-27th May
Martin and Les ran a 2 Day Beginners course here. Four students enjoyed tuition from Martinson Thursday with the basics of spindle and bowl turning, including the use of tools and how they are sharpened, as well as the correct use of chucks and finishing techniques.
On Friday, Les and Martin split the tuition duty for turning a lidded box after the students had finished their bowls.
