Another busy week with a variety of students, from beginners coming for a Woodturning Experience as a family get together, to members of AWGB for an Advanced Bowl Turning.
Saturday, 23rd April
On Saturday, Les hosted four woodturners from The Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB) for an Advanced Bowl Turning course. As members of AWGB they had a course funded by their Association.
Tuesday, 26th April
On a sunny Tuesday in our learning centre, we had a 1:1 Full Day Tuition. Martin and his student worked on bowl turning techniques and correct, safe use of tools. During a one to one session, Martin is able to provide individual approach according to the student abilities and direct them towards improved and successful turning. The one day course also includes a morning coffee and a tasty lunch in the Coffee Shop, which breaks the day for the student and makes it enjoyable as well as informative and knowledgeable.
Wednesday, 27th April
The shop is open from Wednesday to Saturday. We are very glad to see our costumers and people from the Garden Centre, who saw our shop signs or leaflets in the coffee shop and decided to come and see for themselves.
In our Woodturning Shop we have a variety of wood blanks, woodturning tools, wood finishes, kits and other equipment for woodturners. We also provide online deliveries through our website. If we are a far distance from you but you would like to purchase our products, please order online and we will send your order to you as soon as we can.
Friday, 29th April
Another busy day teaching in our Learning Centre. Les had four students for a Woodturning Experience Day, who were a father and three sons for a family bonding day. This course is not only perfect for beginners and newbies as an introduction to a woodturning, but also can be a friends, partners and families get together and experience the woodturning.
They learned some basic skills of woodturning including spindle turning drills whilst each made a bowl and a bud vase in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Martin’s Product of the Week
Tools rests are integral to turning! We have two styles of tools rests specially made for us for our customers – a 7″ straight rest and a 12″ curved one. Both are available with 1″ (25mm) and 30mm stems.
Those curved toolrest are brilliant! I bought one for my VB and got an aluminium sleeve to ensure a tight fit. Makes cuts a lot easier.
