This range has been months in development and Hampshire Sheen is over the moon that these professional standard products are now available.
Martin worked with a local paint manufacturer on the specifications for each of the range and was guided by their years of experience. Each of the samples was tested on open grain and tight grained wood before Martin signed-off on each of the products.
The result is a range of products that Hampshire Sheen is happy to call ‘Professional’.

A neat feature of the labels is a description of the piece on the front of the can. You could call it a ‘Serving Suggestion!
Also featuring on the label is a QR code that links directly to the How-To page on the website here.
Pro Clear Gloss Lacquer

Our Professional Clear Gloss Lacquer has been specially formulated to produce a deep gloss finish for interior or exterior projects in just two to four coats.
Dry and handleable in 10 to 20 minutes under normal conditions, it is possible to produce glass-like finishes within hours of application. Drying time may vary depending on ambient temperature and humidity.
For a simple gloss finish, two coats will generally be enough over a properly sealed surface. Use our Professional Sealer Spray for best results. For a glass-like finish, we recommend at least four coats and then polish with pastes and creams.
Overcoat with our Microcrystalline Wax for a smooth feeling and fingerprint resistant top coat. Use in combination with our Intrinsic Colour Collection, sealers, oils and waxes to create your own finishing regime.

– Sand your work down to at least 400 grit and ensure surface is free from dust, grease and moisture;
– Prepare the surface with a suitable sealer and ensure it has fully dried.
– Shake can with the cap on for at least two minutes before use. Protect lathe and surfaces;
– Avoid breathing spray – Use appropriate PPE and use in a well ventilated area;
– Apply light coats 200mm from the piece, giving time for the lacquer to dry between coats. Two to four coats is usually sufficient;
– Lightly cut back the lacquer between dry coats for an even finish;
– Under normal conditions, this Professional Lacquer can be mechanically buffed in under 3 hours.
– For a glass-like finish, use abrasive pastes and creams according to manufacturers instructions.

Pro Matt Sanding Sealer (Cellulose)

Our Professional Matt Cellulose Sanding Sealer Spray can be used on a variety of surfaces, not just wood. It has been formulated for us to produce a tough surface for our finishes to adhere to.
Non-darkening, the spray is ideal for use over applied colours like the Intrinsic Colour Collection. Without having to wipe or brush on the sealer, you can be sure there will be no further bleeding or blending of the colours.
Dry in 5 – 15 minutes, this product works best when cut back, or lightly sanded either between coats, or after the final coat for a smooth surface to accept your final finish. Drying time may vary depending on ambient temperature and humidity.
One or two coats of the Pro Matt Sanding Sealer spray is generally enough to seal the wood. More or fewer coats may be required depending on the porosity of the piece you are working on.
Basic Application:
This is the method we recommended for using our Professional Matt Sanding Sealer Spray for an even surface before final finishing.
– Sand your work down smooth to at least 400 grit and ensure surface is free from dust, grease and moisture. Clean the grain of dust if using (for example, ash);
– Shake can with the cap on for at least two minutes before use;
– Use appropriate PPE and apply in a well ventilated area. Protect lathe and surfaces;
– Using steady passes holding the can 200mm from the surface, apply an even coat;
– Once dry, we recommend lightly cutting back the surface for a smoother surface before applying subsequent coats;
– Apply a second coat of sealer and repeat above steps until surface is evenly coated;
– Before applying your final finish, lightly cut back the sealer once more to a create a smooth surface.
