No Rest for The Wicked with Another Full Week!

Saturday 5th March Demo and Teaching

As well as working in his workshop and a shop, Martin enjoys his outside demonstrations where he can meet people and share his knowledge and skills with different woodturning clubs. This Saturday, Martin went to Sandon Woodturners near Chelmsford.

While Martin was away, Les had five students in our learning centre. A Group of Beginners learnt some basic woodturning skills, including finishing technics.

Each student ended their one day course taking home a bowl and a bud vase that they turned following Les’s tuition.

Les and Martin processing blanks for students

With three more days teaching coming up this week, Les and Martin spent this afternoon prepping the blanks for the students.

Les has a two day course on Thursday and Friday, and Martin has his Bowl Turning Improvers Course on Saturday.

Back in February, Les presented a demonstration for Cheam Woodturners in London.

They have recently published their new look newsletter, and it is very smart indeed!

Les’ Tip of the Week

Thursday-Friday 10th & 11th March More Teaching and Turning.

On Thursday and Friday, our learning centre greeted three students for a Beginners 2 Days Course with Les. Over the two days, students learned basic technics of safe turning, use of woodturning tools and other equipment. They were also treated to a delicious lunch and hot drinks in a Tree House Coffee Shop at the Garden Centre.

Meanwhile, in his workshop, Martin filmed a video of wet turning an oak bowl for a customer commission. Below is a video of how Martin did it, taken from his YouTube channel.

Tonight, Martin is going to the Surrey Association of Woodturners for another external demonstration.
